teen therapy

Welcome! I’m Carrie Cox, MA, LMFT (CA #138393), LPCC (CA #14893), and LMFT (NV #5015-R). I offer both in-person and virtual sessions in California, and virtual sessions in Nevada.

Making the decision to start therapy is a courageous step toward understanding yourself, healing, growing, and creating positive change in your life.

You might be feeling stuck—overwhelmed by sadness, afraid of the unknown, and unsure of who you are or where to go from here. Life after divorce can feel overwhelming. especially when you are parenting alone and struggling with self-esteem.

I help women reclaim their identity and confidently rebuild their lives after divorce.

Together in our sessions, I will meet you where you are and offer support to help you strengthen your self-esteem and confidence as you step into this new chapter in life.

As someone who has personally navigated divorce, single parenting, and the journey to finding love again, I understand the emotional weight and complexity of this transition. My lived and clinical  experience allows me to support women with empathy, insight, and hope as they rebuild and rediscover themselves after divorce.

Teen Therapy

As parents, it can be challenging to navigate the complexities of the teenage years. You might be noticing signs of increased anxiety, sadness, social withdrawal, or frequent angry outbursts in your teen. These could be connected to various pressures such as sports, college applications, and rigorous academics. The transition into college life or adulthood can also bring unique difficulties and perfectionism.

It's not always easy to recognize when these signs indicate a need for more individualized support. Depending on the intensity of your teen's behavior or symptoms, one-on-one therapy sessions could be beneficial in helping them navigate these challenges.

What to Expect in a Therapy Session

Your first therapy session will focus on getting to know each other, gathering relevant background information, and discussing your goals for therapy. It’s an opportunity to build rapport and talk about what to expect in future sessions. The therapist will meet you where you are—there’s no pressure to share everything right away.
